I had the privilege of working with Marcel at the Partners in Mission Food Bank. He was so much fun, always quick to smile and share a funny story. I’m better for having known him. I send my deepest sympathies to his family. He loved you all so much, and spoke about you all the time.

Wonderful man. I was privileged to The Whig with him and to share walks to work with him and engaging conversations when our schedules and paths coincided. In recent years, the few times serendipity brought us together, the conversations were like we had never stopped -- intense and thoughtful, filled with the many things he was doing or on his mind - Harvey Schachter

My sincere condolences to Marcel's family. I've been a member of the Kingston YMCA for the last 20 plus years, and one of the most familiar and friendly faces at the 'Y' was Marcel. I will miss our daily morning 'chats' on everything and anything, especially politics south of the border ; ) Marcel often talked about his grandchildren, one could tell, he was proud of them. He also had a great sense of humour, there was always a joke or two, every morning.

Sending my deepest condolences to Marcel’s family. I worked with Marcel for many years at the Whig. We would chat daily as we worked in the same department. I learned all about his travels, his beautiful family and his love of exploring and walking. I was lucky enough to bump into Marcel the week before he passed. He hadn’t changed a bit. We had a giant hug and a little chat. I learned of his nine grandbabies. He was so proud of his family. I’m so thankful I got to see him one last time. Thinking of you Willy xo

Words cannot adequately express the loss of Marcel. He was a caring and generous man. His caring was manifest in his love of Willie and family, his deep concern for social justice and his sensitivity to anyone who cannot care for themself. His generosity was manifest in his hospitality and always being there for anyone who came to him for support. His partner in caring and generosity was Willie. And I will be eternally grateful, as a friend, to both of them for having been a beneficiary of their caring and generosity. I don’t know of anyone who is/was more widely read, particularly on social and political matters. Amongst the many precious memories from our friendship is one that relates to Marcel’s knowledge acquired from his reading. Whenever I wanted explanation on some socio-political matter, or wanted to debate some socio-political matter, Marcel was there for me! Losing someone like Marcel is deeply saddening, but that sadness is overshadowed by the fond memories and thoughts of having had the privilege of such a meaningful relationship with a wonderful human being.

Dear Denise, Natalie, Joel and Willie, I’m so sorry to hear of Marcel’s sudden passing. He was such a nice man who cared so much for his family. I have many fond memories of having playdates on Helen street as a child. Marcel was always so kind and friendly to me. He will be missed!
