Passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026 with his family by his side.
Pieter has finally been reunited with his first wife Henderika “Riek” and his son David.
He leaves behind his wife Beulah, daughter Margie Burrell (Jim Lindsay), grandchildren Noah and Chloe Burrell and sister Nellie Vandertol (Andrew).
Peter is predeceased by his parents, Opa and Oma Looyen and sister Ellie Hodgendorn.
Dad worked for CSC for over 25 years and after retiring from there, he worked for H&H Patio Enclosures. He was very active for many years in the Church Athletic League, first being a coach, then a convener and finally as president.
His pure joy in life was camping at O’Reilly Lake Campground, where he and Beulah spent many years and had a lot of close friends.
Dad always had a smile for everyone he met. In his final years, he lived at the Trillium Ridge Long-Term Care Home with Beulah. I cannot express enough how much he loved the staff of Garden House. He considered each and every one of them as his second family.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. A private graveside gathering will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 11:00 am at Cataraqui Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with Mom and David.
