Robert Douglas "Bob" Abrams

After a courageous battle with cancer, we share the passing of Robert Douglas Abrams (Bob). Born August 2, 1948, to Gordon and Doris Abram, Bob carried his parents’ resilience and humour throughout his life.

Bob shared an unbreakable bond with his brother Steve; the two were inseparable from childhood through many poker adventures. He is survived by his brother David (Michele) and predeceased by brothers Leslie (Magda), Archie, and Steve. He will be laid to rest beside Steve.

Bob’s love for his family knew no bounds. He is survived by his

children: Robin Golla (Pete), mother of Alena; and Robert “Bobby”

Abram (Shannon), father of Shiar and Miley. He was a proud step‑father to Fern’s daughters: Juanita Brooks, mother of Elizabeth (Kristen), Rachel (Brandon), Beatrice, Miriam, and Zebulon; and Cheryl Ames (Andy), parents of Kaito and Tomi.

Granddaughters Miley and Shiar cherish memories of Sunday McDonald’s lunches and five‑dollar trips to the dollar store—simple traditions that meant the world to them.

Bob enjoyed a dedicated career with the pipefitters, earning deep respect and lasting friendships.

From his son, Rob (Bobby): During my compassionate leave to care for Dad, he often said he’d “like to win the lottery before I die.” He truly won the lottery the day he was accepted into the A.B. Smith Homestead House. I cherished every minute with him while staff cared for him with dignity—even bringing him his favourite oatmeal with sliced bananas and brown sugar.

From his daughter, Robin: “Dad will be deeply missed. His warmth and unmistakable presence will be remembered always.” His nieces and nephews will always remember him as Uncle Buck.

Special thanks to the KGH palliative team, the Cancer Centre, and the exceptional staff at A.B. Smith Homestead House, especially Heather.

A private family graveside burial will take place.
