Obituary of Ronald John Tracey

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald John Tracey, who left us at the age of 83 on Monday, April 14, 2025, at home, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Ron was the beloved son of the late Tom and Marian (Good) Tracey. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Rita (Watt), and their loving children Georgina (Tony), Rob (Kim), Terry, and Tom (Sherry). He was a proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 5.

Ron was predeceased by his parents; his in-laws Willis and Thersa (Brophy) Watt; brother-in-law Ron Watt; son-in-law Doug McElwee; and infant son Richard.

Those who knew Ron will remember his boundless kindness, compassion, and joy for life. He was a cherished community figure, often stepping in to fill Santa’s boots—bringing smiles to children at parades, community events, and family gatherings. His warm presence lit up every room, especially during the holiday season.

Ron dedicated over 33 years to a proud military career, with postings in Kingston, Germany, Trenton, and Inuvik. He eventually settled back in Kingston to complete his service and enjoy retirement in the community he loved.

To honour Ron’s life, a service will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 PM at St. Mark’s Church in Barriefield.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
