Obituary of John Clair Bland

BLAND, John Clair

21 Sep 1948 – 7 Aug 2025

As the sun rose on a misty Kingston summer morning, John Bland, born in Ottawa, Ontario, to the late Vivian Hartman and Maurice Bland, traveled to a final destination where audiophiles gather to listen to the world’s finest tunes on pristine equipment.  He will be painfully missed as the RV captain by his wife and navigator of over 50 years, Patricia May (Lombard) Bland.  Forever listening along will be son Geoffrey with his Jennifer and their daughters, Isla and Abigail; son Matthew and partner Saira Valani and son Mark and partner Maria Stojicic. He  will be greatly missed by sister-in-law Catherine Spanton and brother-in-law Richard Lombard and by his loving niece, Karen Spanton and her husband, Michael Zeleny; and by his nephew Dave Spanton and son David and nephew Willis Lombard.  John’s guidance and love will forever light their way.

The family extends warm gratitude to the remarkable staff at Providence Care Hospice, the KGH Kidd 9 and Burr Wing for their generous support during the past year of navigating a battle with Leukemia.  Consider donating time as a volunteer in John’s memory.  A celebration of life will be set in the near future. Cremation and interment through Cataraqui Cemetery and Funeral Services.
