Celebration of Life
Obituary of Alban Windsor Probert
Bert was born September 16, 1932 in Cardiff Wales. Beloved husband of Patricia for 70 years. Predeceased by his two children Trevor and Jacqueline. Bert was the most loving caring husband and father anyone could wish for.
Bert enlisted in the U.K. forces as a band boy at the age of 14. He served for 16 years. In 1953 he was sent to the Royal Military School of Music (RMSM). It was there he was chosen as one of the fanfare trumpeters for Queen Elizabeth the second’s coronation.
In 1962 Bert enlisted in the Canadian Forces in London U.K. and he was sent to Petawawa in the Guards Band and he played at many functions especially on Parliament Hill. He was transferred to several other bands finishing his career of 38 years in the Vimy Band in Kingston.
He was involved in the local scene as an accomplished musician teaching students on the trumpet and playing at several different functions. He was also a member of the Hand Bell Choir at Edith Rankin Church.
Many thanks to all the staff at Trillium Ridge for the tender loving care you gave to Bert. He loved you all. Bert left this poem.
GOOD MEMORIES
When you think of me in the future, I want it to be with a smile;
For that was one of many things, which made my life worthwhile.
I may no longer be at home. But I’ll think of you every day;
And because we have the bond of love, I’ll never be far away.
So think of my life, and not my death, and recall the good times we had. Then your hearts will soon be filled; Of good memories and not the sad.
Celebration of Bert’s life will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at The Airport – 416 Wing from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Online memories and condolences may be left at www.cataraquicemetery.ca
