Obituary of Mary Lou Boudreau

I was born in Worcester, MA on December 31, 1952, to Theodore John Decoteau and Winifred Mahar, my heroes.  I lived in the US until I was 5, when I moved to Canada.  I grew up with 4 sisters – the late Nancy (Steve) Wright, Patty Decoteau, Donna (Paul) Mombourquette, and Jeanne Decoteau, with whom I shared giggles, tears, conspiracies and much love. In 1976 I married Bob Boudreau, my soul, my strength, my support, my love.  I was graced with two beautiful daughters, Genevieve Cairns (Rick) and Karyn Boudreau (Phil Douglas), who are my heart and my joy, and who never ceased to amaze me with their intelligence and strength.  I was also blessed with two grandchildren, Liam and Becky Cairns, who are the stars in my sky and my reach into the future.  In university, I met Catherine Douglas, my kindred spirit and lifelong friend.

I want to thank the many people who helped to make my life wonderful– to the Shout Sisters who gave me song and community, to my friends at the Quilters Guild who gave me inspiration and creativity, and to all my friends and fellow “jammers” at the Seniors Centre, who welcomed me into their “village”.

If you wish to honour my life, please don’t send flowers to my funeral.  Give flowers to someone who is still alive to enjoy them.  Do something kind for someone or give support to someone who needs it.  If you wish to make a donation, please consider the Seniors Centre Kingston Region or the School of Rehabilitation Therapy, Queen’s University.
