Obituary of Magdalena Maria Rogall
Magdalena Rogall, née Göeke, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at the age of 98, leaving behind a long and remarkable life defined by resilience, devotion to family, quiet strength, kindness, and enduring love.
Born on July 22, 1927, in Germany, Magdalena lived through extraordinary times that shaped her character and outlook on life. As a young woman in post war Europe, she experienced hardship, uncertainty, sacrifice, and rebuilding in ways few today can truly understand. Together with her beloved husband, Karl Rogall, she immigrated to Canada with their young family in search of a better future. They eventually made their home in Kingston, Ontario, where they built a life rooted in hard work, perseverance, and devotion to family.
Magdalena was predeceased by her husband Karl in 2015, whom she missed deeply throughout the later years of her life. Their shared history, partnership, and journey together remained an important part of her heart and identity.
She was the beloved mother of three children and the proud grandmother of the generations that followed. To her family, she represented constancy, sacrifice, and unconditional love. She helped build the foundation upon which her family’s lives were formed, often placing the needs of others far ahead of her own.
Magdalena carried herself with elegance and grace throughout her life. She had a wonderful sense of style, took pride in her appearance, and created a warm and welcoming home for family and friends. She was the epitome of a hostess, always wanting to feed those around her and ensure everyone felt comfortable, cared for, and included. Feeding people brought her genuine happiness, and no one ever left her table hungry.
She also possessed a wonderfully sharp and unexpected sense of humour, something her family lovingly recognized as part of the “Göeke Verschmitztheit,” a mischievous charm and subtle wit that could appear out of nowhere. With a perfectly timed remark, knowing smile, or clever observation, she had a way of catching people off guard and leaving them laughing. Her humour was intelligent, warm, and unforgettable, and it remained with her throughout her life.
Magdalena was never selfish. Even in her later years, she remained thoughtful and appreciative of others, including the caregivers and staff who helped care for her. She carried herself with dignity and gratitude and never wanted to burden anyone. Even near the end of her life, she rarely complained, enduring the challenges of aging with quiet strength and remarkable grace.
She will be remembered for her resilience, kindness, humour, elegance, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family. Those who knew her understood that she carried within her nearly a century of wisdom, sacrifice, history, and love.
She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her memory, her lessons, her traditions, and her spirit forward.
Though deeply mourned, Magdalena’s life was long, meaningful, and beautifully lived, a life that stretched across generations and continents and one that will never be forgotten.
May she rest peacefully beside the husband she so dearly loved.
