It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn “Joan” Hewson on December 9, 2025, at Kingston General Hospital, at the age of 88.

Joan was the beloved wife of the late Norman “Jolly” Hewson, with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. She is predeceased by her siblings Joe, Sam, Helen, Dorren, and William “Bill.”

She will be deeply missed by her surviving sisters Shirley White and Anna Mae Sherman, and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Joan was a devoted and hardworking employee at the Bank, where she dedicated many years of service. She also had a lifelong passion for curling and was an active and enthusiastic participant in the Kingston curling community for decades, forming lasting friendships and contributing greatly to the sport she loved.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who supported Joan during her courageous battle with cancer, and sincere gratitude to the staff at Kingston General Hospital for their exceptional care during her final two weeks.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Cataraqui Cemetery and Funeral Services.
