Obituary of Sydney Cecil Biggs

Sydney (Syd) Cecil Biggs, lovingly known as “Poppy,” passed away peacefully after 87 years of walking this planet, leaving behind a legacy defined by kindness, honesty, loyalty, and unwavering love for his family.

Born on July 9, 1938, in Kingston, Ontario, Syd was a man who truly embodied what it meant to be genuine, hardworking, respectful, and deeply devoted to those he loved. He lived his life with quiet strength and integrity, earning the admiration and respect of everyone who knew him.

A true entrepreneur, Syd built and owned Kingston’s largest cleaning company at its time, a business founded on an exceptional work ethic, customer-first service, and pride in doing things the right way. He was widely respected for his professionalism, reliability, and the way he treated both clients and employees with fairness and respect.

Syd was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beverly Biggs (née Pollitt, 1940–2014), his best friend and the love of his life. After more than 55 years together, he missed her incredibly, and his family finds comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with her as they begin their next journey together.

He was a devoted father to Chris Biggs and Cindy Lalonde, and a loving grandfather to Matthew Thibault (Kayla) and Jordan Lalonde.

Though his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace and free from pain, his loss is deeply felt. He will forever be remembered as a father, grandfather, entrepreneur, and man who lived with humility, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility to others.
