Obituary of Valeriy Irishkov
Valeriy Irishkov, age 84, passed away in Kingston, Ontario, on January 5, 2026, from cancer. He passed away surrounded by family and love.
Valeriy had lived in Kingston since 2017. He was born in Odessa, Ukraine, and raised in Vladikavkaz, Russia. He began his working life on the railroad before pursuing higher education and earning an engineering degree. Valeriy went on to build a long and successful engineering career, ultimately achieving the position of Chief Engineer. His work ethic, technical skill, and dedication were a source of pride throughout his professional life.
After retirement, Valeriy embraced his passion for art through book design and publishing. Later in life, he discovered a new passion for cooking, often preparing elaborate meals for his family. He was known for his sharp mind and quiet determination.
Valeriy will be remembered as a caring dad and grandpa, person of duty and modesty.
Valeriy is survived by his wife, Valentina; his children, Olga and Sergey; his grandchildren, Ksenia, Andrey, and Michael; his brother, Vladimir; and his nephew, Alex.
He was predeceased by his father, Ivan, and his mother, Rita.
In accordance with Valeriy’s wishes, no public service will be held. Those who wish to honor his memory are invited to make a donation to the Terry Fox Foundation to support cancer research.
