Maureen Sheila (O'Riordan) McKay
February 08, 1923 to June 11, 2026


Maureen, at the age of 103 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at AB Smith Providence Care Hospice, Kingston, Ont. Dear daughter of the late Louisa and Timothy O’Riordan. Devoted wife to the late Ronald Edwin McKay of 68 years. Cherished mother of Deborah McKay, Nancy (Gordon) Cassells, Heather McKay and Robert McKay. Also remembered as grandmother of Jade (Ryan) and Emma (Jacob). Maureen graduated Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario in 1948 with degree in Bachelors of Arts (Biology)


Throughout all the years, child rearing her 4 children, Maureen was very involved both in Montreal and Ottawa with CWL, CFUW, and Engineers’ Wives Association Maureen will always be remembered and valued for the strength, the love and the strong principles, tempered with humour and a lot of common sense every day. We would like to thank all the staff at SLP where Maureen lived her last 10 years, all the team in KGH Emergency, and the exceptional care given by all the Doctors, Nurses, PSWs and Volunteers at AB Smith Providence Care Hospice.


At Maureen’s request, a Funeral Mass will be held in St. James Chapel at St. Mary's Cathedral, Kingston, Ont., officiated by Father Shawn on Saturday June 20, 2026 at 11:00am. There will be a private Right of Committal Ceremony which will be held at the Chapel Hill Pavillion in Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston, Ont. at a later date. Donations appreciated to QUBS, AB Smith Providence Care Hospice or any charity of your choice.
