Obituary of Georges Gingras

Georges Henri Gingras 

1945-2026

 

It’s with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Georges Henri Gingras. He passed away peacefully at Providence Care Hospital on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Beloved husband of Rose Aimée (Prud’homme). Loving stepfather of Micheline (Steven), Robert (Amy). Cherished Grandpapa of Melissa, Mathieu, Éric, Olivia and Connor. Proud Grand-Grandpapa to Edward and Felix. Dear brother of Jacques (Mireille)from Quebec and Armand Gingras (deceased). Predeceased by his parents, Thérèse (Levesque) and Jules Gingras, son-in-law of Emilien and Hélène Prud’homme. Special uncle to Lynne (deceased) and her children, Austin, Crystal, her sons Rock and Maxx and many relatives.

 

Throughout his career, he inspired countless students as a dedicated teacher at Collège Boréal in Sudbury, Ontario, where he devoted many years to education before retiring. His patience, encouragement, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on both his students and colleagues

 

He was a charismatic man with an infectious smile, a warm heart, and an extraordinary ability to make friends wherever he went. Whether you had known him for years or had just met him, he had a way of making you feel welcome and valued. His compassion and willingness to help others were simply part of who he was. No project was too big or too small if someone needed a helping hand, and he gave his time and talents without ever expecting anything in return. 

 

He embraced life with enthusiasm and had a wide range of passions. He loved music and took great pride in his sound systems, always appreciating the beauty of exceptional sound. He was an avid enthusiast of sports cars and vintage automobiles, admiring both their craftsmanship and history. He found peace while kayaking, enjoyed the sight of loons. He had a special love for dogs, whose companionship always brought a smile to his face. He had a natural rhythm and came alive on the dance floor. 

 

In 2021, Georges and Rose moved to the Loyalist Country Club Community in Bath, Ontario. Georges was an active and energetic person; he enjoyed participating in fitness and water aerobics classes, where he made many treasured friendships. He had recently discovered golf and looked forward to learning pickleball, always eager to embrace new experiences and challenges. Georges also made deep connections with his neighbours on Greenhaven Court and enjoyed Thirsty Thursdays and impromptu porch get-togethers. 

 

One of the greatest joys of his retirement was spending the winter months with Rose in Europe. Those travels gave Georges and Rose unforgettable memories, new friendships, and countless adventures that were treasured deeply. His warm personality made it effortless for him to connect with people from around the world. They shared a love of discovering new places, cultures, and experiences. 

 

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, friendship, curiosity, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

His gentle spirit, generous heart, and joyful way of living remind us that a life is measured not only by the years we live, but by the love we give and the difference we make in the lives of others.

 

Thank you to his care team at Kingston General Hospital and Providence Care Hospital for their compassion and exceptional care during his time there. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him. His bright spirit and love of life will live on in our hearts. 

 

A celebration of life for Georges will be held at a later date in the Spring of 2027 in Sudbury, ON. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory can be made to the Providence Care Hospital in Kingston, Ontario.
