I also had the pleasure of working with John as part of the Science Department at Thornlea Secondary School in the early 1990s. John was a friendly and supportive colleague. We also both had young sons. We had a house fire during that time, and lost all our baby clothes and stuff. For weeks following the fire, John worked bring care packages of clothing, food and even small appliances and leave them at my desk. What a guy!
John and I reconnected by chance two years ago. We both retired to eastern Ontario, and both are very involved in choral singing. Our different choirs have sung together at numerous concerts since then, and I always enjoyed catching up with John on those occasions. Our choir will be singing with the Martello Alley Cats next month, and I’m sure that will all sing a song in tribute to Sedge!
