Obituary of Harry Isadore Melnyk

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Harry Melnyk at Kingston General Hospital on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the age of 85 with his family by his side. Harry was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 13, 1930 to parent’s Michael and Pearl (Momotiuk). His career in the transportation industry lead him from remote Northern Ontario, Patricia Transport in Hudson, to Winnipeg, Thunder Bay; Motorway and he retired from the Transportation Safety Association in Toronto after 35 years in the industry. When Harry was not promoting safety in the transportation industry, his favorite pastime was entertaining family and many of the family’s closest friends. He always enjoyed getting back up north to fish with his childhood friends. Harry was a beloved husband to Marjorie (nee Brooks) for 67 years, loving father to David (Carol), Kenneth (Lynda), Timothy (Susan), Jeffrey (Anita) and Lisa (Jeff). Cherished grandfather to Dean, Nicole, Nigel, Christopher, Michael, Andrea, Jordan, Daniel, Michael and Rachel and will be sadly missed by all of the great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, brother William Melnyk and sister Nedda Melnyk. A private family interment will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 11:30hrs at the Cataraqui Cemetery.
