Obituary of David Jackson

Sadly, we announce the sudden death of David Frederick Jackson on Thursday, April 12, 2018 in his 67th year. Husband of the late Mary Fleming and much loved friend of Ada Mallory. Predeceased by his father Frederick David Jackson. Survived by his mother, Ethel Irene Jackson. David will be sadly missed by sisters Joanne (Ron) Fincham, Marilyn Jackson (Tom Clement), Karen (Tom) Wiggins, many nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law Rosanna Parker, Terry Fleming and their children.  David was a Kingstonian, not by birth but by commitment, whose passion and activity for the common good impacted the lives of many. With steadfastness and care, David’s service to this community included: the Limestone District School Board (12 years Trustee, former Chair); the Social Planning Council Kingston (President); Wintergreen Renewable Energy Co-op (Director); Kingston Not-for-Profit Housing Association (15 years, President); City of Kingston Housing and Homelessness Advisory Committee (Chair); Kingston Co-operative Housing (founding member, long-time resident of the Lois Miller Co-op and Consultant for three decades); Ryandale (29 years, Director); Queen’s University (Adjunct Professor, Kingston Community Profile); Molly Brant Foundation (12 years, Executive Director) and other social justice organizations. David led a busy professional life and spent untold hours in meetings – time permitting, he enjoyed carving pumpkins at Halloween, listening to Pavarotti and kayaking in the Inner Harbour.
