Obituary of Salvatore De Parolis

Salvatore De Parolis passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Kingston General Hospital on January 19th, 2023. “Sal,” as he was known by his family and friends, was born in Sperlonga, Italy on October 26th, 1940. He started working at a very young age, first as a shepherd, then in construction as a stone mason. On October 21st, 1961, he married his beloved wife Maria Pia Marini in Atina, Italy. Shortly afterwards, they moved to Brussels, Belgium, where they had their first child Antonietta “Toni” De Parolis. In August of 1963, they immigrated to Canada and settled in Kingston.

Sal was extremely devoted, hard-working, and loving. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and zealously serving his God Jehovah. When he was not working, he could be found taking care of his garden, and cherished big blue truck.

Sal is survived by his wife Maria; daughter Cinzia Cole and husband Jeff; son Daniel De Parolis and wife Lisa; grandchildren Jessica Scarpazza and partner Jason, Edward Scarpazza, Travis Cole, Taylor Seaton and husband Wesley; and great grandson Cole. He is predeceased by his first child Toni (1963- 2012).

A memorial talk for Sal will be given at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 849 Development Drive, Kingston on February 25th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre.

The family would like to personally thank his Oncologist Dr. Tara Baetz; the healthcare staff of Hotel Dieu Hospital Urgent Care Centre, Kingston General Hospital Emergency Department, and Davies 4 Intensive Care Unit, especially Dr. Smith, and nurses Tara and Abby.
