Obituary of William Stinson
Lovingly Remembered STINSON, Bill (Wm.) G.
Peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, March 19th, 2023, two months before his 85th birthday, Bill joined his beloved wife Elaine (Oct 2014) to dance among the angels.
Bill was born in Ottawa and grew up on a farm at the South end of Woodroofe Avenue in Nepean. He married the girl of his dreams in December of 1961 and resided on a farm North of Kemptville. In 1965 they moved to the Kingston area and settled into their forever home on Sydenham Road with two little girls in tow. Over the next couple of years two little boys joined them and many family memories were made.
Once the kids started their own journeys, Bill & Elaine made more memories and many friends along the way, whether on a road trip to a family gathering, antique show or camping event. They were involved with many groups and clubs. Bill loved all things with engines old or new and could fix anything. He owned Precision Saw Filing in Kingston where he sold and repaired small engines, sharpened saws and blades of any kind. He worked for the City of Kingston and the Township of Kingston Parks Department, including the ice rinks as a zamboni driver. His hobbies included antique engines, camping, and wood carving, and in his retirement he taught carving for many years.
Bill has left behind his loving family including his brothers, Donald Stinson and David Stinson; his sister-in-laws, Joan Simpson, Marilyn Stinson & Lillian Sheppard and brother-in-law Doug Sheppard. Also left to mourn are his children, Diana Saunders (Mike), Mary Lyons (Karl), Jim Stinson (Julie), and Peter Stinson (Leanne); his 14 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael, Stephen (Krystle), Kurtis (Lindsay), Connor (Natasha), Sarah-Jo (Matt), Kerisa (Jay), and Mitchell (Ashleigh); his 10 great grandchildren, Kaeden, Riley, Koltin, Mya, Easton, Lawson, Piper, Henlie, Declan, and Kassidy as well as many cousins, extended family and wonderful friends.
Bill is predeceased by his parents Gordon & Mable Stinson, sister-in-law Mary Stinson, brother-in-laws Gerald Simpson and Wayne Sheppard.
A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 18th from 1-4pm at Odessa Place (on the Fairgrounds, 231 Main St., Odessa).
