Obituary of Tim Walsh

In loving memory of Tim Walsh, born on January 8, 1952, in Brockville, Ontario, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, December 11, 2023 in Kingston, Ontario.  Predeceased by his beloved mother Marjorie, father George, sister Bev (Art), and brother Bob (Marilyn). He is survived by his loving, dedicated, devoted wife Brenda. He will be missed by his loving sister Sue (Harry), cherished children Justin (Sara), Lindsay (Scott), and Brin (Erin), as well as his adored grandchildren, Rielly, Sydney, Brayden, Myles, Caileigh, Archer, Liam, Owen, Hope and Grace and many nieces and nephews.  Tim shared a memorable bond with many of his friends but he will be especially missed by his best friend, Dave (Maggie) Axford who was also by his side to the end. Their enduring friendship added a layer of joy and support throughout Tim's journey.

Tim was a talented, award winning stage actor whose captivating performances at Domino Theatre, the Grand Theatre Kingston and Gananoque Playhouse illuminated the stage and touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of watching.  One of Tim’s favourite roles was as the Lion in Wizard of Oz, even going so far as to greet fascinated children after the show while staying in his role. Tim’s passion for storytelling and commitment to his craft enriched our community, leaving behind a legacy of memorable characters and shared emotions.

Tim chose a career in Federal Corrections before contributing his expertise to Ontario Provincial Corrections.  While he was working and raising a family, he also found time to fulfill his dream of being a Queens University history graduate.  He was a master of humor and quick wit and could effortlessly turn an ordinary moment into a laughter-filled memory. His infectious humour, antics, and one-liners brought joy to the lives of family and friends, leaving a legacy of laughter that will echo through the years. In times of both joy and challenge, Tim's ability to find humor served as a source of comfort, making him a beacon of light in the lives of those around him.

Surrounded by a vast network of friends and loving family, Tim's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we say our farewells, let us celebrate the life of a man whose larger than life personality touched many and left a lasting imprint on all who crossed his path. Be at rest now, under the applause of fond memories and laughter.

Many thanks to the nurses and medical staff at Kingston General Hospital as they helped us navigate Tim’s strong will and colourful humour while his health was declining.  Special mention to the nurses on Connell 3 for their outstanding care and comfort.

A private family service will be held at Cataraqui Cemetery but to celebrate Tim's memorable life, we invite friends and well-wishers to join us in gathering on January 6, 2024 at 4pm at The Pilot House, Kingston.  Let us share anecdotes, laughter, and honor the vibrant spirit he brought into our lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in his memory to Domino Theatre, Kingston (https://www.dominotheatre.com/fundraising.shtml) or to Alzheimer’s Society KFL&A.  Tim held theatre and performing very close to his heart.  Your contributions will help continue his commitment to making a positive impact on his community and the lives of aspiring local actors.
