Obituary of Marjorie Louise Melnyk

Marjorie Louise Melnyk (née Brooks)

1931 - 2024

 

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Marjorie Melnyk at Kingston General Hospital on March 9, 2024 at the age of 93 with her family by her side. Marjorie was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on January 4, 1931 to her late parents Eileen and Roy (Brooks). 

 

Marjorie is survived by her sister Audrey Collis. She was a beloved wife to late Harry (2016) and loving mother to David (Carol), Kenneth (Lynda), Timothy (Susan), Jeffrey (Anita), and Lisa (Jeff). Cherished grandmother to Dean, Nicole, Nigel, Christopher, Michael, Andrea, Jordan, Daniel, Michael, and Rachel. She will be sadly missed by all the great-grandchildren. 

 

She hosted every Sunday dinner,  often for more people than she had chairs for. She loved her grandchildren and would never turn down an opportunity to have them spend the night at her place.   After retiring from a career with The Hudson Bay Company, she enjoyed travelling with her husband, sister and brother-in-law (Owen). Her passions were sewing, knitting and taking care of her family. 

 

Thank you Mom for the sacrifices you made to provide for your family. Thank you for the love you showed us each and everyday. Words can’t begin to express how much you will be missed.
