Obituary of Diane Kivi

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cecilia Diane Kivi (nee Craig) on July 21, 2024. Diane was born on September 22, 1945 in Kingsville, Ontario and was 78 when she passed away from a short battle with cancer. Diane lived every day of her life to the fullest and was loved and admired by all who knew her.

Diane was smart, courageous with a deep love of nature and being active. She was an Ontario Scholar and a graduate of Psychology from Wayne State University of Detroit and Western University. She worked as a Social Worker and as a Chartered Accountant. Diane wanted to experience life and lived in various cities across Canada from Windsor to Toronto to Thunder Bay to Westbank, Victoria and Kelowna.  While living in Thunder Bay, she met and married her life partner, Reynold Kivi in 1986. From there the two moved to British Columbia to enjoy the climate and outdoors. They travelled south to Arizona and Mexico yearly where they spent time with friends and family. In 2015, Rey and Diane moved back to Ontario to be closer to family and settled in Kingston, Ontario.

Diane never stopped learning, never stopped doing. She was fluent in Spanish and was an avid duplicate bridge player with Masterpoints, golfer, line dancer, textile artist, dog lover and trainer. She loved camping, canoeing, travelling, music and the theatre, but she did not love to cook. She also deeply loved her extended family and travelled to see them often.

Diane is survived by her husband Rey Kivi, her step children Debbie (Tom) Matthews, David (Mandee) Kivi, Christine (Sheldon Fournier) Kivi, her sister Cynthia (David) Fiber, her brother Robert (Alida) Craig, her niece Katie and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Dr. Cecil and Mit Craig.

The Kivi & Craig families wish to thank all those who helped Diane and us in the past few months. Your support has meant the world to us all. A special thanks to her doctors, the nurses and personal care attendants on Kidd 9. Interment will be held in a private ceremony at Cataraqui Cemetery. Should one wish, donations can be made in Diane's name at the Kingston Humane Society to acknowledge her deep love of animals.
