Obituary of Emil Tickert

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Emil Tickert, age 75, on November 28, 2024, in Kingston. He passed peacefully with family by his side.

Emil was born on January 7, 1949, in Goeppingen, Germany, to Maria and Wendel Tickert. He was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend to all who knew him.

He graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in political science and worked as a restaurant manager at McDonald’s and Taco Bell in Toronto, where he won awards for his excellent leadership. In his personal life, Emil was known for his love of football, animals and food. He enjoyed having lunch with his nephew, drinks with his friends and quiet nights at home with his cat.

He is survived by his nephew Andreas Wiltschko, cousin Stefan Leibing, lifelong friends Paul and Tim Morrison and beloved cat Lucy. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Maria and Wendel Tickert, and his sister Veronica Wiltschko.

A private funeral was held on December 5, 2024 at Cataraqui Cemetery. In honour of Emil’s memory, contributions can be made to the Kingston Humane Society.

We will always remember his strength, positivity, and his ability to find joy in the little things in life. May he rest in peace.
