Obituary of Mary Trusler Johnson

Our sweet Mary passed away at the age of 70 at Kingston General on July 30, 2021, following a lengthy illness that she faced with endless courage. Mary was the beloved wife of Kevin Johnson, loving mother to Laura (Jonathan) and Kate (Will) and cherished grandmother to Miles (8), Adelaide (5) and Charlie (2). She leaves behind her adoring siblings Murray and Joan. Mary is predeceased by her devoted parents Ralph and Marjorie.

Mary contributed to her community through her mental health work with children and sexual abuse victims, through fundraising initiatives for several charities and through social justice advocacy. Mary will be remembered for her quiet strength and ever-present smile, along with her wry sense of humour, which were evident to all who knew and loved her. Her bravery, perseverance and positivity throughout her health battles were an inspiration to those around her.

We wish to thank all the dedicated healthcare professionals in Toronto and Kingston who supported Mary and Kevin these past several years.

An intimate Graveside Service has been held at Cataraqui Cemetery.

Continuing Mary’s legacy as a benefactor of numerous charities, we ask that those wishing to do so make memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the Canadian MPN Research Foundation or a charity of your choosing.
