Obituary of Hugh Walter Barclay

Hugh Walter Barclay in his 86th year, passed away peacefully at Kingston General Hospital on October 6th, 2021. Predeceased by his wife Verla, his parents and brother Arnald Barclay. Father to Neban, Roselyn (Tony) Barclay and step-father to Michael Farrell. Grandfather to Stephanie, Jessica and Nathan. Brother to Donald and loving uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Hugh began his work at KGH in Orthotics, soon opening his own practice as a consultant at Ongwanada; Prince Edward Heights, along with his involvement with Queens University Medical students.Hugh then started a business called AMS Design (wheelchairs) for individuals with special needs. Hugh’s passion was working with his printing press, naming that business “Thee Hellbox Press,” and the collecting of Private Press books and publications.

At Hugh’s request, his remains were donated to Queen’s University Department of Bio Medical and Molecular Sciences (Human Body Donor Program). A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
