Obituary of David Richard Hayward

Sgt (Ret.) David (Dave) Richard Hayward, husband, father and a dear friend to all, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Kingston General Hospital on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the age of 70 years. He had been fighting diabetes, kidney disease and other various illnesses for quite a few years.Dave was born in Moncton, NB on June 18 1947, where he grew up then later joined the Canadian military (Air Force) in 1967. During one of his military courses in Clinton, ON, he met Viola whom he later married on Dec 21st, 1968. They had 2 children, David Jr. and Kim.Dave, Vi and his family have lived in many cities and towns during his 28 years of service in the Canadian Air Force. Moving amongst numerous Canadian bases, they got to see many parts of Canada and Europe where they all made wonderful memories. These bases include Chatham, NB; Clinton, ON; Suffield, AB; Moose Jaw, SK; Lahr, West Germany and finally Trenton, ON where he retired as a Sergeant from the Air Force in 1995. Upon retirement, he worked at Canadian Tire Trenton for 10 years, helping out and making good friends with customers as well as staff.Dave is survived by and will be deeply missed by his wife of 49 years Viola (nee Collins), son David Jr. and his wife Sharon, daughter Kim; grandchildren Jordan, Jeremy and Jenna and his two sisters Betty and Joyce.He will also be missed by his many friends, nieces, nephews and other relatives.He is predeceased by his parents Harry Hayward and Mildred Veek.As per Dave’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Dave’s life will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion in Trenton on March 24th, 2018 from 1:30pm - 4:30pm.
