Obituary of Ernest LeCocguen

Ernie passed away peacefully at the Providence Care Hospital in Kingston on Friday, August 20, 2021, at age 92. Ernie did not have any family in Canada. They all lived abroad. He leaves behind his sister Madeleine Piriou (France). He was the loving uncle of Alain, Yann & Marie Emmanuelle LeCocguen (France), Michel, Patrick & Philippe LeCocguen (Australia) and Martine & Frédéric Piriou (France). He will also be remembered by his grand-nephews and nieces Gaelle, Rozenn, Madeleine, Henri, Vincent, Sara-Morgane et Yoann. Predeceased by his brothers Paul and Eugene.Ernie will be greatly missed by his very good friends Bob and Diana Wormington, and Bob and Dale Hilson. They were his family in Canada. Ernie loved to fish and spend time on the water with his friends. He was an accomplished chef who loved to try new recipes. Ernie has had a diverse and successful career from his beginnings as a coachbuilder in the Renault factory in France, to owning his own restaurant with his brother Paul in Napanee, as well as working in hotels in Montreal and Toronto. His best years were spent working as a baker in a convent on the shores of Lake Ontario in Amherstview.In keeping with Ernie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 1:30 pm. Friends wishing to attend can meet at the Cataraqui Cemetery office where the procession will begin.
