Obituary of Archie Zagrodney
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Archie Zagrodney, on October 4th 2018 in his 80th year. One of nine children, Archie was born and raised in Kapuskasing, Ontario where he began a busy working life while still in high school, delivering milk and caddying at the golf course. Accepted to RMC, and graduating in 1960, Archie began a lifelong association with the College and Kingston. After serving in the RCHA, Archie and family settled in Kingston. Archie worked at Dupont as a mechanical and electrical engineer before starting his own consulting engineering practice through which he was proud to contribute to the design of many public and private buildings in eastern Ontario.Archie was an active member of the Kingston Rotary Club, the APEO, his church choir, the RMC Club and the RMC Senior Staff Mess.Archie is predeceased by first wife Lola and second wife Caroline and survived by his brothers Stan and Mike and sisters Betty, Mary and Evelyn. Son Mark(Sharon), daughter Tanya(John); grandchildren Emily, Daniel, Christopher, Zackery, Jeffery, and Jeremy; great-grandchildren Alesha, Alaina, Journey, Brantley, and Tamdyn; as well as a large extended family who will all miss him greatly. Archie was always traveling around the province to visit family and friends and went out of his way to help where he could. His generosity and kind heart and his presence will be forever missed.A memorial service will be held at Currie Hall, RMC on November 3 at 2pm with a gathering afterwards at St. John’s Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to remember Archie by supporting the things he loved: The RMC Foundation, St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Kingston or the Rotary Foundation of Canada.
