Obituary of Nina Alberta Watts

After a long and interesting life Nina Alberta Watts (Hadigan) passed away peacefully at Trillium Retirement Residence Nov. 28th, in her 104th year. Nina was born in Mallorytown in Dec. 1915. Her father Francis Hadigan died in 1918. Nina, her dear sisters Effa and Catharine and mother Beatrice Hollingsworth moved to Kingston with her stepfather Samuel Benjamin Plunkett. After graduating from KCVI she attended Normal School in Peterborough. She taught for many years in Yarker and Kingston. In 1943 Nina married Dr. William Gerald Watts. They lived in Kingston, Orillia, Regina Sask. and Cranbrook B.C. In 1955, they moved to Etobicoke. Her beloved Gerald passed away in 1969 and her dear son Steven died in 2008. In 2013, Nina moved to Kingston to be closer to her family. Nina will be greatly missed by her daughters Lynda, Sharon, Susan and sons-in-law Rick and Gene. Dearly loved Grandmother of Christopher (Helen), Ted (Shelley), Julie (Chris), Heather, Matthew (Meaghan) and Robert (Amanda). Proud and loving Great Grandmother of Justin, Christine (Tyler), Maggie, Beth, Lauren and William. Nina was cherished by many nieces and nephews, each of whom she treasured. Nina was predeceased by sisters Effa Beavan and Catharine Sharpe and sisters-in-law Edith Calvert, Marg Parker and Mary McRoberts. There will be a memorial service celebrating Nina’s life in the spring. In honour of Nina donations can be made to The Cancer Society, the Foundation Fighting Blindness or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to CATARAQUI CEMETERY AND FUNERAL SERVICES.
