Obituary of William Herbert McMurtry

Peacefully at Kingston Health Sciences Centre on Monday, June 29th, 2020, surrounded by his daughters. William (Bill) of Tweed in his 76th year. Son of the late Lawrence and Phyllis McMurtry of Oshawa. Predeceased by his wife Patricia (Halliday). Lovingly remembered by his daughters Angela McMurtry and Adele Arseneault (Chris), his grandsons Zackery Bowness (Aleisha), Owen Slattery, Liam Arseneault, and Colin Slattery, his great grandson Dante Bowness, his brother Donald McMurtry (Auldyth late), his twin Robert McMurtry (Gloria), his sister Bev Murray (Doug) and his many nieces and nephews.Bill was a long-time employee of Canadian Tire. He was a dedicated member of the Lion's Club International holding many positions in the organization including District Chair, President and treasurer throughout his many years of service. Bill was a member of the Legion and held positions in the executive. He acted and directed with the Tweed National Theatre, the Marble Arts Players and the Belleville Theatre Guild. He was a bull rider, a golfer, a hunter and enjoyed wine with friends. A celebration of life will take place when it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lions Club of Tweed or charity of your choice. A special thank you to Nurses Megan and Kaite and all the doctors and nurses at KGH on Kidd 6.
