Obituary of Elisabeth Jennie Willis
In her 59th year at St. Mary’s of The Lake, Friday 29 July 2016 after a prolonged and valiant struggle with cancer. She is survived by her husband David, children Tristan and Celina; her father Helmut; sister Heidi (Paul) LeRoy, Woodstock; brothers Thomas (Jayn) Wolfville N.S.; Michael (Alexa) Montreal and numerous nieces and nephews.Lis spent 30 years in the nursing profession mostly at Hotel Dieu with a number of years at KGH as well as time at Fairmount. She was by nature a caring and giving person and so well suited to a profession where those qualities are of paramount importance. She was a charter member of the Frontenac Women’s Chorus and loved music in all its forms. She shared a passion for the outdoors with her family and instilled in her children a love of birds. They both followed her in graduating from Queen’s with B.Scs. (Lis in 1979). The outpouring of affection and support from her colleagues at Hotel Dieu and family friends is a testament to her gift for maintaining lasting friendships and an indicator of how deeply her absence is felt.A special note of thanks to the Palliative Care Unit team of St Mary’s for making Lis’s final weeks as comfortable as possible and for their kindness and support to her family during that difficult time. The family welcomes friends to remember Lis at the Outdoor Centre, Little Cataraqui Conservation Area (Division St.) Thursday 4 August from 5:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation in Lis’s memory to Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre, Napanee or the Kingston Humane Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to CATARAQUI CEMETERY AND FUNERAL SERVICES.
