Obituary of Joan Elder

August 23, 1953 – June 12, 2015It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Elder, who passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on the morning of June 12, 2015. Beloved wife and best friend of Don Rushlow of Belleville, mother of Brad Elder of Calgary and Melissa Harmon (Dave) of Kingston. Step-mother of Donnie Rushlow and Ryan Rushlow(Lori). Nana to Faith Harmon of Kingston and Rori and Amelia Rushlow of Picton. Daughter of Shirley Pixley of Belleville and pre-deceased by father Donald Pixley of Napanee. Sister to Larry Pixley (Jan) and Sandy Sikma (Fred). Fondly remembered by many cousins, nephews, nieces, family and friends. Celebration of Life to be held at The Banquet Centre (1 Alhambra Sq., Belleville) on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. A second Celebration of Life will be held at Crystal Beach Resort, in Madoc, Ontario on Saturday, June 27th, 2015 at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to a family chosen charity, Casa de Alabbanza Children’s Orphanage (www.canadahelps.org/dn/14722), would be greatly appreciated.
