Dear Kim and family, I was deeply saddened and shocked to learn of Irene's passing last night when I visited my mom at Rideaucrest last night. I do sing-a-longs at Rideaucrest on the 2nd floor on a monthly basis. Irene always enjoyed the music. I first met Irene when Kim was outside in the garden at Rideaucrest visiting her mom. Irene had just moved into Rideaucrest. Kim played on the Kingston Red Barons in the 70s and I was a goalie whose team played against the Red Barons a couple of times. Kim was a force on the ice. I recognized Kim and we had a chat. Irene was a lovely woman who was intensely proud of Kim (and I'm sure all of her children and grandchildren). I made a point of saying hi to Irene anytime I visited my mom or sang for the good folks on Crestview. Irene always had a smile for me. I will continue to honour her request to avoid singing "Irene Goodnight" as it did not have good memories for her. May she rest in peace and light. Your family is in my thoughts and heart as you surround each other with love, grieve her passing and celebrate her life. Warmly, Sandy
