I was saddened to hear that Chris has passed away. He was, by far, the best instructor I’ve ever had, with the horse’s welfare always coming first. He had a wonderful sense of humour and I find myself quoting ‘Chris-isms’ when explaining riding techniques.

I got to know Chris when he would visit our business in Trenton. He was a wonderful man and we had so many great chats these last few years. I am so sorry to learn of his passing, my condolences go out to his family at this difficult time.

Those sparkling green eyes! And that incredible seat - I’ve still to see a more elegant rider - and it’s been 50 years since the Wirral Riding and Saddlery Centre. I hope he wrote those stories of his. Sending love, CJT!

I am sorry to hear that Chris has passed away. He was a true Horseman and the best instructor that I’ve ever had. I often refer to one or another of his ‘Chris-isms’ when I am riding. Condolences to his family.

Chris was the chief riding instructor at the Wirral Riding Center when I studied for my BHSAI certification. Chris set a high standard for riding and had a great sense of humor. I have so many wonderful memories of the hours spent at the school. Rest in peace Sir. My deepest condolences to his family.

Chris was my Dressage guru. He was able to get the best out of almost any horse with little fanfare and the most quiet aids. I remember many evenings chatting about riding, horses, dressage movements and more. Praise was not always forthcoming. I recall being at a show in London and Chris came to find me after a pre-showing schooling session. He remarked that my canter was quite good and I glowed all weekend. I still start every ride thinking of Chris who instilled in me the idea that I need to recognize my horse’s mood each time I get on and report back to him so we had a plan for the ride. I’ll remember him fondly and with gratitude.
Deepest condolences to his family and friends.

My deepest condolences to Chris's family. I was a working student and apprentice in the early 2000's. I am the the horsewoman I am today because of him. As horses figure so greatly in my life, I am by extension, the person I am today because of Chris. I will always hear his voice in my head every time I swing a leg over the back of a horse. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. I have attached a picture of the mare I started with Chris's expert help.
