Obituary of Christopher John Todd

Suddenly and in his 77th year, Chris passed away on Monday, January 15th, 2024 at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa, Ontario.

He will be forever remembered, loved and cherished by his wife Tina Campbell, son Regan Campbell, and daughter Ashley Desrosiers. He will be greatly missed by his son-in-law, Matthew Desrosiers, and remains a very special Granddad to Sawyer, Ava and Jacob Desrosiers. Chris is predeceased by his parents Tommy Todd and Leila Todd (nee Goundry), and survived by his sister Jennifer Wharton of Scunthorpe.

Chris was born in Scunthorpe, England in 1947. His true life’s passion was working with horses, which carried him from England to Austria, the United States, and finally Canada where he settled in the 1980s. He will be fondly remembered by the countless students and apprentices whose lives were touched in some way by Chris’s gentle manner, expertise, and devotion to the animals in his care.

When not at the barn, Chris could usually be found immersed in a book while enjoying a good glass of single malt scotch, with classical music playing in the background. He was also an avid fisherman.

Cremation has taken place with a private family ceremony to follow. In keeping with Chris’s wishes there will be no visitation or services. Instead, please enjoy a glass of your favourite beverage while you remember times spent together.

Chris was a long-time advocate for therapeutic riding and lover of all animals. Donations may be made in his honour to the Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton or the Kingston Humane Society.

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall softly upon your fields…
